I was recently commissioned to produce a series of illustrations for an Oxford University's Press website. It was for a section used for teenagers who could login to get help with their maths work.

The illustrations would be used to give the maths section a "cool factor". They wanted 12 different characters who were all diverse and interesting. The drawings would be black ink which could be displayed through out the site.

I set to work designing the characters. I sketched everything out on paper first so that I could get nice flowing lines and get the characters right. Then once I was happy with the design I scanned them in and then took them into Photoshop. Once in Photoshop I cleaned up the lines, and added further details.

Overall I was really happy with the outcome, I thought that the characters were all really diverse and hopefully they will be appealing to the teenagers.
