I have mentioned in a previous blog post just how much I love the Arabian horse. There is no doubt that they are one of the prettiest horse breeds with their scooped nose and flaring nostrils. Arabian horses are also the worlds oldest horse breed.

You can imagine how excited I was when this lovely commission came in. It was to paint a beautiful Arabian horse, oil on canvas. The client sent me a photograph of the horse. So I simply sketched out the horse straight onto the canvas and then started painting. It took about 5- 7 layers of oil to complete the painting. The first layers take the longest to dry as they are the thick base layers and then I paint fine layers on top to add in the detail. 

I really enjoyed painting this piece- portraits like this are my perfect commission.
